Far more than a book, 'Visions of Reality - Art of Synthesis' is an invitation for you to partake in the secret of life itself, and 'life' in this instance is you, the reader. The relationship you have with the material held within its pages enables it to be transformed and taken forward into your world, to create your reality. A synthesis of striking image, symbol and poetry, grounded in ancient wisdom from timeless spiritual traditions, it leads you onwards to surrender all, in favour of that which you know to be your true essence. Think of the last time you did a tarot reading or had one. How many of the cards were reversed? Close to half? Well, of course! So why do so many books treat reversed cards in what is basically a cursory manner? Joan Bunning to the rescue with Learning Tarot Reversals--finally reversed cards get the attention they deserve! Traditionally, reversed cards are read as the polar opposite of what the upright card represents. While this method of reading has its place, the effect of reversed cards, their number, groupings, and where they fall in a tarot spread can deepen any reading and bring subtle nuances into play. Bunning points out that a reversed card can also indicate a build-up to, lack of, or decline from the event or condition represented by that card. Linking cards together based on the presence of reversed cards thus gives a reading a natural flow of high points and low points without abrupt transitions. In a format usually reserved for upright cards, Bunning describes every reversed card in the deck--with a brief description of the upright meaning, and more detail about the reversed meaning. Following the format of her bestselling Learning the Tarot, Bunning, who is a masterful teacher, presents lessons that build on each other smoothly, allowing a student to progress to increasingly complex readings and understanding with ease. Bunning also includes a handy section of keywords for easy reference.
At a time when the patriarchy is diminishing and goddesses abound, what of the sacred masculine? As confusion about masculinity and what is means "to be a man" seems to muddy the water further, it is time for a simple yet pro¬found tool to offer some assistance: a contemplation card deck and guide book. These cards are a gift from Josef, the earthly father of the Christ. You know, the Josef and Mary, Josef, betrothed of Mary, mother of Jesus Christ. That man who clearly played a major role in the life of an extraordinary being, offering wisdom and guidance to this child who would grow to be a man and have a profound effect on the world. Who better to offer information and guidance about the Sacred Masculine than Josef? The purpose of this book, which supports the contemplation card deck, is to offer the opportunity to reflect upon and embrace the sacred masculine. It is my hope that the cards and book will be used to affirm what is wonderful and needed from the sacred masculine, as well as to offer guidance to broaden ones view of the sacred masculine. If you are looking for an "answer" book, this is not it! This book and separate card deck are meant to be a guide to help you find your own answers. You are the expert! All of the answers you seek are within you. The core premise is that the sacred masculine is energy rather than gender. It is not about having answers, or being the "expert." It is about posing questions that will lead one to self-discovery. It encourages you to question your perceptions and your belief systems and to be open to new possibilities. The book is aimed towards men, yet women will also find value in its pages and images for we all have both masculine and feminine energy and tendencies. The cards are tools to bring balance into one's life. May this book and card deck assist you on your journey.
This book came into being from the author’s exasperation at the ignorance of many users of the Thoth tarot deck. They prefer to go by their “intuition” rather than study Crowley’s companion book to the deck, The Book of Thoth. “It’s too dense” they cry. “I’m not interested in these philosophies; I just want to read Tarot.” The above sentence is the greatest insult to Aleister Crowley, the creator of the Thoth deck. For the deck’s purpose was to convey the higher mysteries to the diviner. Crowley intended for the deck never to be sold separately from the Book of Thoth. And so, heart full of elitist snobbery and sense of obligation to Crowley, the author of this book set out to spoon feed this dense material to the masses, without watering down its contents. In the spirit of Crowley who sought to enlighten the world, the author has added his own contribution to Crowley’s legacy, out of duty. It was due to Crowley’s belief in freedom of information, during an era of politics and secrecy, that the author was able to get his own hands on the gem of all spiritual writing, the Book of Thoth.
